WEDDING PARTY

MICHELLE- MAID OF HONOUR

I first met Michelle in Trois-Rivieres Quebec for a summer French program we both attended in 2019. We immediately had a connection and did everything together. She was my personal photographer taking pictures of me during golden hour documenting our journey. Eventually, I would use some of these pictures for my Tinder profile which you know who swiped on later on😉 Little did I know, she would become my long distance best friend whom I cannot imagine my life without.

AZURINE

Azurine is my younger sibling who's 6 years younger than me. I've always protected them through thick and thin and have had the pleasure to watch them grow into the adult they are today. They always teased Avery about proposing to me and when he did later on, their response was..."finally". 

JANALLYN

I have known Janallyn since elementary school. To be honest, I don't remember how her and I ended up being friends but what I know for sure is that we started hanging out in Grade 4. Although I didn't see Janallyn very often in high school (because we went to different schools), whenever we hung out it was as if no time has passed. When I look back at old pictures of us *cringe* every year on my birthday she was always there. I consider Janallyn as one of my oldest friends. 

AMBER

I met Amber during my first practicum, her and I were co-student teachers to a lovely grade 1 class. At first, I felt uneasy with the idea of teaching with someone else who I've never met before. Thankfully, her and I got along so well and eventually co taught the class together. By the end of our practicum, we were eating McDonalds chicken nuggets in the music room. Shout out to my soul sister!

ISLA

My first memory with Isla is her dropping off a jersey to get crested. My manager liked her energy and asked my opinion about hiring her as a seasonal. With that brief interaction I replied with "she seems nice". Fast forward to the present and I am glad I vouched for her. People who suffer through work together, stick together and that has proven very accurate. From getting $5 ramen to bubble tea runs, I couldn't name a better friend to suffer through work with. 

ALICIA

I met Alicia aka LeisureDawg through Isla. She too, was hired as a seasonal who turned into a permanent employee. I remember first meeting her when I was given the opportunity to make her Connor Brown jersey. I found her intimidating at first, but behind that face is a whole lot of whimsy and Zach Hyman. I don't think I will ever meet anyone who is more committed to a hockey player than Alicia. Maybe Isla comes a close second...

TYLER - BEST MAN

If I could describe Tyler in one simple word... well I can't think of just one! Tyler has been the most consistent, thoughtful, caring, hilarious, and genuinely great human beings I've had the priviledge of meeting in my life so far. 

We met by chance in my first year of University (Ask Tyler his perspective of the story) and immediately did our friendship kick-off within the one hour tabling shift we had to promote a University event. From our time in a fraternity, being work colleague, and hanging out almost every day. Tyler is one of the most trusted people in my life and I can with confidence say is someone you want in your corner. His leadership, empathy, and honesty are his most defining skills, and, are areas in which I look up to the most.

When you see him, ask him what his favourite Avery memory is? I'm sure the answer won't and will surprise you. ;)

JETT

My brother! Jett-teo! Jetty! He's gone by a lot of names over the years, but I think being able to call him one of my groomsmen is my favourite so far. 

I met Jett when I was two years old *Cue sigh from hilarious dad joke*. Jett is a tactical, kind, and caring soul who is ready to help those in need. He can be quiet, but don't take that as his lack of presence. He creates space for others and is paying attention to the small things. Jett and I got to spend alot of time together in similar hobbies, and I will always be thankful for any time spent with Jett.

Fun fact: Jett is THE cat whisperer. Every cat I've seen Jett interact with instantly become the most friendly you'll ever see.

BRETT

As a promise to Brett, I am not allowed to lie and say his favourite Pokémon is bulbasaur (although, you can ask him if you want to make sure 🤫).

Brett holds the title as one of my oldest friends (excluding Jett). We met when I was in Grade 7/8 through our time training at Fly Free Movement for Parkour. Through the years, and no matter how may kilometers or countries away we live, we still found ways to keep in touch and stay connected.

Through countless hours volunteering and taking on leadership/governance roles, to the many hangouts, sushi dinners, gaming sessions, hours in dance practice, and whatever time we spent together, one thing remains constant. Brett is a genuinely kind and thoughtful human being, who I call myself lucky to have as a friend over the last 14 years. Within minutes of talking to Brett (and I strongly encourage you to chat with him), you'll find yourself amongst good company with someone who genuinely tries to build a connection with you.

LOGAN

You ever look at someone and wonder, "What's going on inside their head?". Well folks, that thought remains ever constant in my time spent with Logan, and let me tell you why. Logan has one of the most active brains and complex thought patterns I have witnessed in one person. He challenges the norm. He brings huge fits of laughter to a room. He is an avid fan of black holes (he can explain more to you about this one).

We met when I was rushing Phi Delta Theta in the winter semester of my first year of university. Now, if you think all greek life is what you see on movies and TV, you'll need to open yourself to the idea that greek life, like the one offered through my time at Phi Delta Theta, was actually about brotherhood, scholarly success, and sound friendship. Some of the best people I trust in my life came from greek life on campus. Now, where does Logan fit into this? As I was onboarding into my fraternity, Logan became formally my big brother (known as a Big), and he came through on the premise of being a brother. He helped me through tough times, made me feel welcome amongst his friends, and always made sure that I was taken care of. I never had an older brother growing up, so Logan and my brothers in Phi Delta Theta brought that experience to life for me.

p.s. If Logan ever seems really concerned about my tree nut anaphylaxis, I bet you he has a story why!

MICHAEL

If I had a nickel for every time Michael has tendered me a letter or resignation, regardless of the type of role or responsibility - then I could probably pay for this whole wedding. This seems like a hyperbole, and yet, there's a stack of letters in my office that says otherwise...

Michael and I met in my third year of University, when we got partnered to run a team of volunteers for the Week of Welcome program. Something you should know about Michael:

• He is equally involved or more involved in his community compared to me,

• He is a firm believer in making me into memes (that are now globally circulating, including Japan and Sweden),

• He is a friend who has pulled through for me in more ways than I can count.

Through may years of tackling challenges in student events, community festivals, and gaming, Michael brings a level-headed approach to how he takes on challenges, and knows how to bring in big picture thinking. Michael is one friend who I know is always down to tackle a new venture or project with me, regardless of context.

Now, you may still be wondering - with how much Michael and I work together, why do I have so many resignation letters from him? Ask Michael. I have yet to figure it out.
